Beijing – The Great Wall of China, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is a short tour bus ride away and a must-see for any visitor. The fabulously wealthy dynasties that ruled China centuries ago left behind palaces such as the Forbidden City
Xian – Xian is a large city and capital of Shaanxi Province in central China. Once known as Chang’an (Eternal Peace), it marks the Silk Road’s eastern end and was home to the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties’ ruling houses. At archaeological sites in Xian’s surrounding plains are the famed Terra Cotta Army, thousands of life-size, hand-molded figures buried with China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
Yangtze River –The Yangtze or Yangzi is the longest river in Asia, the third-longest in the world and the longest in the world to flow entirely within one country. It rises in the northern part of the Tibetan Plateau and flows 6,300 km in a generally easterly direction to the East China Sea.
Shanghai, on China’s central coast, is the country’s biggest city and a global financial hub. Its heart is the Bund, a famed waterfront promenade lined with colonial-era buildings. Across the Huangpu River rises the Pudong district’s futuristic skyline, including 632m Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, with distinctive pink spheres. Sprawling Yu Garden has traditional pavilions, towers and ponds.
