We begin our arctic adventure in Churchill where each year thousands of Eco Tourists come to experience the marine, boreal forest and tundra of this magnificent region of Canada. This northern port is the home of beluga whales, many migratory bird species as well as the king of the Arctic- the Polar Bear.
After cruising Hudson Bay, where you can enjoy watching seabirds, seals and migrating whales, we will spend the next days traveling to picturesque towns to enjoy local culture as well as guided expeditions.
From the Nunavut capital, Iqaluit on Baffin Island we cross the Davis Strait to reach the lovely town of Uummannaq, 590 kilometres from the Arctic Circle in northern Greenland.
Cruising south, we reach the calving glacier of Eqip Sermia and Ilulissat, ‘Iceberg Capital of the World’. We take a guided walk to the Unesco-protected Icefjord, with a wealth of optional excursions by boats, planes or helicopters.
In Qeqertarsuaq (‘The Great Island’) on Disko Island, we experience ‘kaffemik’, a cultural get-to-gether over coffee, before continuing south to Sisimiut and entering Kangerlussuaq, ‘The Great Fjord’, our final destination.
