Singapore is a tiny city-state resting at the very tip of Malaysia’s peninsula. It’s approximately 700 km south of the classical, historic, and exotic and tropical island of Penang. This trip takes in many major sites along that route at a pace that’s sure to please and inspire. Our first stopover is in Malacca, one of Malaysia’s coastal states, where you’ll see relics of early Chinese settlements dating back to the 15th century.
Malacca was a busy port during this period and its importance was on par with Singapore; a regional power at the time. Our tour’s next stop is in Kuala Lumpur, the modern and very cosmopolitan capital of Malaysia, which boasts the tallest twin towers in the world. From here we travel north to the Batu Caves and Lake Gardens, then to the Cameron Highlands, famed for its terraced tea plantations and where the climate is cool and breezy.
We then drive northward to the island of Penang, disembarking mainland Malaysia by crossing the longest bridge in Southeast Asia. Georgetown is the capital of Penang, and is defined by a robust history and culture and its colonial-style buildings. A little north of Penang we stay at tropical beach resorts off azure waters that will ensure a positively relaxing stay.
Your tour from Singapore starts with a relaxing train ride on KTM’s or Malaysian Railways’ Express Rakyat. The journey takes you across the famous causeway and into the city of Johor Bahru. While on the train, admire the rural countryside, cultivated areas of oil palm, rubber and small holding of vegetable and fruit plantations. Disembark at Kluang, a town in the state of Johor, and continue the rest of your journey to Malacca by coach. You will arrive in time for lunch followed by a historical city tour on foot visiting the various heritage sites such as St Paul’s Hill, Porta De Santiago, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple and Jonkers Street, also known as antique street.
After breakfast, you rejoin the highway passing Seremban to Kuala Lumpur – the capital city of Malaysia. Your tour of this city of charming contrast will cover the sights of the National Palace, the National Museum, the National Monument (sculptured by the creator of the Iwo Jima monument in Washington, DC), National Mosque, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the Royal Selangor Club and passing by the Petronas Twin Tower – 2nd tallest building in the world.
This morning tour of Kuala Lumpur suburbs will bring you to Batu Caves, reached by a straight flight of 272 steps. In some of today’s stops, you will have the opportunity to see how Malaysian handicrafts; batiks and pewter wares are made. The afternoon is at your leisure to do some shopping or enjoy more of the multifarious sights of Kuala Lumpur.
Upon arrival in Hanoi, Vietnam, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel in city center for check in. Rest of the day free.

Your day begins with a pleasant drive downhill and northwards to Ipoh – the city of millionaires’, which made its fortune from the rich tin mines of Kinta Valley- the heart of tin dredging in Malaysia. Enroute, you will visit Kellies Castle built by the Scottish rubber tycoon and famous Cave Temples in Ipoh, followed by lunch at a local restaurant.
Travel North to Kuala Kangsar, with its unique Ubudiah Mosque – a magnificent building with golden dome – and the Palace of the Sultan of Perak towards the state of Penang. You will cross the Penang Bridge (spanning 13.5km – the longest bridge in Asia and third in the world) into the island of Penang. Check into your hotel located on the beach.
Today you explore Penang – The “Pearl of the Orient” and the oldest British settlement in Malaysia.
Your exploration will take you to the famous Penang Snake Temple. If you fancy it, have your photograph taken with a venomous Wagler’s Pit viper draped over you! Continue to explore the various attractions in Georgetown including the Khoo Kongsi “Dragon Mountain Hall” clan house with its ancient design constructed to capture the splendor of an Imperial Palace. More attractions include the historical Fort Cornwallis and the Thai Temple of Wat Chayamangkalaram, which houses a 33-metre reclining Buddha. The rest of the afternoon is left for you to enjoy the sparkling white beaches.
